NO 1   The best of the biggies: The year 2011 has witnessed the launch of top of the line smartphones from tech behemoths like Apple, Samsung, Motorola, RIM and others. Here is a list of such smartphones launched in 2011

NO 2   Samsung Galaxy Nexus: It is the biggest smartphone launch of the year 2011. Samsung and Google has come uo with the Galaxy Nexus phone, which is the first phone running Android 4.0 OS, codenamed 'Ice Cream Sandwich'. The
Galaxy Nexus has a 4.65-inch high-definition Super AMOLED display with a 1280x720 resolution. The phone sports a 5 megapixel camera with 1080p video capabilities and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. With Face Unlock on the Galaxy Nexus, users can unlock the phone with a smile doing away with the need to remember and type in passwords. Galaxy Nexus has a Contour Display that sits perfectly within the device’s slim, curved and no button design. The device is just 8.84mm thick. The phone has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. However, the phone has not been launched in India yet, but it is expected to hit the Indian market sometime in early 2012.

NO 3   Samsung Galaxy Note: Samsung has launched another attractive smartphone - the Galaxy Note - in 2011. The smartphone has been positioned as a smartphone-tablet combo and its 5.29-inch display is the largest in the smartphone segment. The phone has an HD Super AMOLED screen. The device comes with an S Pen, a new age avatar of the stylus. The S Pen (that stands for Smart Pen) offers additional features that a normal stylus does not have. The Galaxy Note runs on Google's Android 2.3 operating system, and sports an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 2 megapixel front camera. Powered by a 1.4GHz dual core processor, the phone offers 1080p full HD video recording and playback. Weighing 178g, it has an internal memory of 16GB, which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. It has a 2500mAh Lithium-ion battery.

NO 4   Apple iPhone 4S: The phone features a 3.5-inch retina display at 960x640p resolution. Users can record videos in 1080p HD and also use the front facing VGA camera for video chatting. The iPhone 4S is powered by Apple's dual-core A5 chip, the one that is also present inside the iPad 2. It includes an autofocus 8 megapixel camera that has a new custom lens with a larger f/2.4 aperture, and runs iOS 5, Apple's latest mobile operating system(OS). Another interesting feature is the new voice-activated personal assistant, Siri that helps users get things done just by asking.

NO 5   Nokia Lumia 800: It is the first handset from Nokia that runs Windows Phone Mango OS. The Nokia Lumia 800 features a 3.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved display and is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor with hardware acceleration and a graphics processor. The Nokia Lumia 800 contains an instant-share 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, HD video playback, 16GB of internal user memory and 25GB of free SkyDrive storage for storing images and music.

NO 6    HTC Sensation XL: HTC has launched the HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio integration in India. The phone features a 4.7-inch screen with 480 x 800 resolution. It has an 8 megapixel camera with f/2.2 lens and dual LED flash. The phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz processor. Running Android with HTC Sense, the phone has 768MB RAM and storage space of 16GB. It has 1600 mAh Li-ion battery.

NO 7    HTC Evo 3D: HTC has launched its smartphone HTC EVO 3D, which can be used without 3D glasses. The phone features a 3D 4.3-inch display and a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor. It also features dual 5 megapixel cameras, which can be used to capture both conventional and 3D images and videos. It is the first smartphone available in the Indian market offering a superior 3D viewing experience without glasses.

NO 9    Motorola Razr: The latest smartphone from Motorola - Razr - is sleeker and more powerful than its earlier models. The device runs Android 2.3 OS and is equipped with a 4.3-inch super AMOLED display, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass screen, 1 GB RAM and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. It also has a front-facing 720p HD video camera and 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.

It includes 8GB onboard memory, which can be expandable up to 32 GB through a microSD card. The phones has 768 MB RAM and a 5 megapixel camera with 2X digital zoom.

NO 11   Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S: It is the latest addition to the company's Xperia range. It has a 1.4 GHz processor upgraded to 1.4Ghz, an 8.1 megapixel camera and 320MB of built-in storage. The Xperia Arc S is able to shoot 2D and 3D panoramic images which can be viewed by connecting to a Sony 3D BRAVIA TV. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device sports a 4.2-inch display. The smartphone comes in five colors including Pure White, Midnight Blue, Misty Silver, Gloss Black and Sakura Pink.
