Computer Always Wrong

The Time On My Computer Is Always Wrong

If the time on your computer is always wrong, the chances are that a new battery in your computer will cure the problem. It's surprising how many casual computer users don't know that there is a battery inside a computer case. They know there's a mains cable for electricity, but have no idea about the battery. And yet, if you think about it, how else would the computer remember the time once you've disconnected it from the mains?

So in most cases, if the time on your computer is always wrong, it's the battery that's to blame.
So shut down the computer, make sure you're grounded to prevent static electricity, open the case and look for the thing that looks like a watch battery. It may be clipped in, it may be in some kind of container, or (very rarely) it may be soldered in. It's simply a case of removing the battery, making note of the number and voltage, and buying and installing a replacement.
