Opera Mini Speed Dial

Cricbuzz and Opera Software extend ties on Opera Mini Speed Dial

Extend ties

Opera Software who teamed up with Cricbuzz, in June of last year has now extended its partnership with the latter, until 2013, due to the large traffic coming from Opera Mini users in India. It had teamed up with Cricbuzz to offer live scores during the India-England cricket series and other cricket features. It became an instant success, as it enabled users on-click access to live cricket scores, ball-by-ball commentary, news, highlights, schedules, archives, picture galleries, among other features.

Speed dial, which is Opera Mini’s favored feature brings one-click access to frequently accessed links and bookmarks. The Opera Mini Speed Dial, includes the home page link to Cricbuzz.com in Cricbuzz’s 6-week campaign using the Opera Mini link. Cricbuzz.com claims to be the second largest cricket portal on the Web and the largest on mobile, and most advanced in terms of reliability, accuracy, richness of content and the speed of the data updates.

"Our presence on Opera Mini's Speed Dial has helped in reaching out to the young mobile users in India. We are very happy to extend our partnership with one of the most popular players in the mobile browser category and hope this further helps in delivering information on cricket to more fans," said Pankaj Chhaparwal, CEO,Cricbuzz.com.

"Our association with Cricbuzz clearly demonstrates the value we bring to not just our partners but our users as well," said Sunil Kamath, Sales Director for India & SAARC, Opera Software. "Opera Mini is the most widely used mobile web browser in India. It provides a gateway that helps organizations reach a majority of mobile web users."

Opera Mini has a large user base with more than 144 million users, each month and is said to be growing. It brings in cloud-assisted browsing and the data load is reduced by 90 percent using the compression technology before sending it to phones. This eventually results in faster page-loading speed on a limited bandwidth connection, and also lower data costs.
