Samsung Galaxy S III

Will the Galaxy S III be unveiled?
The Internet has been abuzz with rumours and speculations about the much awaited flagship handset from Samsung, the Galaxy S III, over the past couple of weeks. The handset was initially expected to make its debut at the Mobile World Congress event that took place in Barcelona, late last month.
However, before the event took off, Samsung had confirmed that the device would not be unveiled at the time, due to the fact that it would take time to hit shelves in the U.S, which in turn would hamper the sales of the product. This is especially true, since Samsung considers the United States to be one of their biggest markets and announcing a device and launching it at a later date would not be feasible for the brand. However, since then there have been loads of image and specification leaks regarding the device and as time passes this seems to be picking up momentum. The latest bit of information comes from Gizmodo who have obtained images of a store in London called Phones 4u with a banner with the message ‘Coming 30.3.12’

The website states, “These shots were taken of the Phones 4u store on London’s Oxford Street, but apart from that we don’t have much information. We know Samsung’s going to announce its new flagship within the next couple of months, but previous rumours pointed at April and May, not March.” Every bit of information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S III has pointed to the announcement of the highly anticipated device being May 22nd, which is when Samsung’s Unpacked Event will take place. There have been leaked renders of the device as well displaying what the Galaxy S III will look like with the date on the device showing the above mentioned event.

As for the specifications, everything seems to be pretty intact since the first leaks spilled out. The S III is said to have a 12MP shooter with an LED flash. It will also have some new features, like slow motion, time-lapse and the ability to record videos up to 60fps. The display will most likely be a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus with an HD resolution. It will most likely feature Samsung’s own quad-core Exynos SoC, up to 32GB on onboard storage and whole gig of RAM. Connectivity is taken care of by 3G HSPA (up to 42Mbps), Wi-Fi, ‘n’, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, HDMI, etc. As for the battery, it is believed that the device will come equipped with a 1750 mAh battery.

While this bit of information regarding the March 30th announcement date may or may not be true, it would make sense for Samsung to unveil the device now, as a range of handsets featuring quad-core processors have already been announced leaving the S III as the only one left to be unveiled.

Let us know your reactions about the possibility of the S III being launched on March 30th or do you think the brand will launch another device on the date?
